December 28, 2008 - 'LINE 6' HALF STACK USED BY DAVE MUSTAINE ON AUCTION
On auction at the Megadeth eBay Store is a Line 6 half stack used by Dave Mustaine. The amp is a model designed and made specifically for Dave, but was not mass produced. The Mustaine amp has the same power amp section as the HD147, a two DSP chips, a main processor, and 4 amp models (a Line 6 clean, a Dave signature heavy tone, a modified vision of the Dave signature heavy tone, and a Plexi tone). The cabinet is a 4 x 12 including a custom grill and metal handles. This item was used extensively by Dave during the recording of "The System has Failed" and the subsequent tour. December 24, 2008 - DAVE MUSTAINE TALKS ABOUT SONGWRITING PROCESS
Dave Mustaine recently spoke to Revolver magazine about what fans can expect from the upcoming CD, which he said will contain "stuff that's melodic like nobody's business, stuff that's heavier than hell, and stuff that's a combination of both. DM: "The way I write, I'll play a riff and tape it and save it. And if I don't use it now, I'll use it later. The very first song I ever wrote, "Rust In Peace… Polaris", didn't appear on anything until the fourth Megadeth record. Right now, there are about 20 songs that are in the making, and there's another good 25-to-30 hours worth of guitar riffs on tape." December 23, 2008 - FORMER MEGADETH CO-MANAGER DIES OF ESOPHAGEAL CANCER
Bud Prager, President of E.S.P. Management, Inc. — who co-managed Megadeth from 1995 to 2001, helping them to their first major commercial radio success and co-writing a number of songs — lost his year-plus long battle with esophageal cancer at his home in Montauk, N.Y. on December 22. December 10, 2008 - DAVE MUSTAINE FEATURED SOLOIST ON NEXT STATIC-X ALBUM
Los Angeles-based metal quartet Static-X has set "Cult of Static" as the title of its sixth studio album, due on March 17, 2009 via Reprise Records. The CD will include a new version of the song "Lunatic" (which originally appeared on the soundtrack release to "Punisher: War Zone") featuring a guest guitar solo by Dave Mustaine.

December 9, 2008 - CHRIS BRODERICK TO TAKE PART IN SPECIAL CONCERT THURSDAY
Chris Broderick is among several guest musicians who will take part in the 30th Anniversary Simon Phillips Retrospective concert, which will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Anaheim Marriott Ballroom F in Anaheim, California. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. Show times are 8:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Like the NAMM musical instrument convention itself, the show is a "trade-only" event and not open to the public. December 3, 2008 - PRIEST FEAST: UK TOUR REVISED
Due to unforeseen circumstances Judas Priest have revised their 2009 tour of the UK as follows. The show at the Nottingham Arena has been cancelled, with existing ticket holders being offered a pair of tickets to either Sheffield Arena 13th February or Birmingham LG Arena, 14th February shows. Furthermore, their Manchester show on 17th February has changed to the Apollo Theatre – Standing tickets are valid for the same date for this new show, seated tickets will need to be exchanged at point of purchase. December 2, 2008 - SHAWN DROVER COMMENTS ON PASSING OF LOUDNESS' DRUMMER
Shawn Drover has commented on the passing of Loudness drummer Munetaka Higuchi, who died Sunday morning (November 30) after a seven-month battle with liver cancer. Shawn: "I just found out that 1 of my favorite drummers passed away - Munetaka Higuchi from the band Loudness. Munetaka Had been diagnosed with Liver Cancer less than 1 year ago, and lost his battle yesterday, which makes me very sad.
