Band Faq – Megadeth

Droogie is a derivative of Droog and means friend, taken from the movie “A Clockwork Orange”. If you are a member of the Megadeth Cyber Army or a fan of Megadeth in general, Dave considers you a Droogie.

Vic Rattlehead is Megadeth’s mascot. Dave Mustaine developed the character. He is featured on the covers of the majority of Megadeth releases.

The PMRC (Parents Music Resource Center) was a committee formed in 1985 by the wives of several congressmen. Their mission was to educate parents about “alarming trends” in popular music. They claimed that rock music encouraged/glorified violence, drug use, suicide, criminal activity, etc., and sought the censorship and/or rating of music.

MD.45 is a side project that Dave Mustaine worked on with Lee Ving (of the band Fear) on vocals, Jimmy DeGrasso on drums, and Kelly Lemieux on bass. Their album The Craving was released in 1996.

A tout le monde (To all the world)

A tout mes amis (To all my friends)

Je vous aime (I love you)

Je dois partir (I have to leave)

The music sample at the start of “Use the Man” is from the song “Needles and Pins” by The Searchers.

Dave trained under Sensei Benny and holds black belts in both Ukidokan Karate and Songham Taekwondo.

It is Dave's way of saying goodbye after he posts a message to fans. It means: Mustaine Sez Goodbye Droogies!

“Et erunt homines se ipsos amantes, cupidi, elati, superbi, blasphemi, parentibus inoboedientes, ingrate, scelesti” is Latin from the Biblical Verse: 2 Timothy 3:2. Spoken on the album by USM Latin Professor, Dr. Miles Doleac. The verse translates to “For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy”.

“Novus Ordo Seclorum” and “Annuit Coeptis” are two mottos that appear on the Great Seal of the United States. “Novus Ordo Seclorum” translates to “A New Order of the Ages” and “Annuit Coeptis” translates to “Providence favors our undertakings”.

The female vocal is performed by the lovely and talented Cristina Scabbia of the band Lacuna Coil.

1. Unit of measurement equal to the death of one million people by nuclear explosion.

2. The world's state of the art speed metal band.

Dirk was recommended by drummer, Chris Adler. Chris drummed on the album Dystopia and did some touring with Megadeth soon after to support the album. Chris became too busy touring with his band Lamb of God and recommended Dirk to fill in with Megadeth. As Chris continued to be very busy with LOG, he graciously bowed out of his Megadeth duties and Dirk became the band’s full time drummer.

Megadeth was in need of a new lead guitarist, Kiko was one of the names brought up, he was contacted and invited to come to Dave Mustaine’s home in Tennessee. He was hired soon after to record the album Dystopia and the rest is history!
