Question
Hello ScorpioN!
I play the electric guitar about a year and I think that I am very good at playing, but sometimes when I look for band looking for guitarist I find only bands looking for bass guitarist. So sometimes I think about playing the bass guitar. So I have a question to David, what is the most important in playing the bass guitar?
Thank you! Greeting from Poland!
Bartek
Answer
Hey Bartek,
I commend you in wanting to diversify your musical talents! If there's a demand for bass players in your area, then by all means see what you can do. David is also a guitar player, so he had some great insight into your question.
"Playing the bass is similar to guitar in some skills but it really is a completely different role. You become the glue between the guitars and drums in a rock band so sometimes you play the guitar lines and others you play more rhythmically with the drums.
It is a fun instrument and in a live setting the bass is an undeniable presence in the room....enjoy! -David Ellefson"
I hope that answers your question Bartek - go for it!
