Question
ScorpioN,
Several people have asked if Megadeth have covered any Metallica songs, which they haven't, but some of the riffs in several Megadeth songs are very similar to some riffs originally done in Metallica songs. The most notable similarity i've heard is the main riff on FFF, which sounds like Metallica's Motorbreath. Several riffs off of Metallica's Call Of Ktulu (which Dave co-wrote) are on several Megadeth songs, such as Hangar 18 and Countdown To Extinction and even some of the lyrics off of Go To Hell are the same as Enter Sandman. Because he often 'speaks his mind' of late about Metallica, mainly Lars (Metallica's drummer) and his portrayal in the Metallica documentary, is this Dave's way of paying respect to his former band and band mates, or just coincidence that later Megadeth riffs sound like early Metallica riffs?

Answer
I don't think it's his way of paying respect, there's really no need for that. Seeing as Dave was a founding member of Metallica and had a hand in writing their "ealier" riffs it makes perfect sense that some of Megadeth and Metallicas riffs might sound similar, because they were written by the same man.
