January 6, 2009 - JAMES LOMENZO: "BACK TO THE SALT MINE..."

James LoMenzo checks in from Vic's Studio: "Got back to Vic's yesterday and caught up with the guys. Dave, Shawn, Andy and Chris were all right at it, working on the album files, going over tempo's, fine tuning sections and such. We're really close to finalizing these demo's and getting to the business of tracking our final parts. While I'm waiting for this I'm in the video suite collecting and preparing artwork for our touring video displays. I've got some cool motion graphic ideas that I'm hoping we can implement further down (and on) the road." MORE

Dave Mustaine has issued the following studio update: "It has come to my attentionthat tomorrow we start recording drums for the new record. PS - Song 9 is the 7th song arranged and approved by me, and we have a few more ideas to go over today, but tomorrow is the day. ...Thanks Andy for your perserverance and in getting us to this place." January 6, 2009 - SHAWN DROVER: "BACK TO WORK/PLAY AT VIC'S"

Shawn Drover has posted the following update on the Megadeth Forums: "Yesterday was a good day for me for a few reason's, 1 of them being that my 2009/2010 Ddrum touring drumsets arrived at Vic's - Needless to say, I felt like a kid in a candy store!!! In all honesty, they are the most beautiful drumsets I have ever seen, let alone now being the proud owner of. I have to thank Elliott, Terry, Rick and all at Ddrum for going way beyond the call and making my "Dream Kit" a reality. You can see my kit next week for yourself at the NAMM show, located at the Ddrum booth. I will be signing on both Friday/Saturday @4PM. If that wasent good enough for me, my new signature Ddrum snare will also be on display, which I will be debuting in a live setting on tour in Feb.2009." MORE

Scheduled appearances for both Shawn Drover and James LoMenzo at this year's NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show, which is being held January 15-18 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, are as follows: Shawn Drover - DDrum booth: Saturday, Jan 17th at 4PM (stay tuned for more). James LoMenzo - Rotosound booth: Friday, January 16th at 2PM and Yamaha booth: Saturday, Jan 17th at 1PM. Times for Dave Mustaine will be posted soon. Dave Mustaine has posted the following update on the Megadeth Forums: "Yesterday marked the return of Shawn Drover and Andy Sneap. Andy and I met at the studio and we caught up, and went over some songs. Shawn did not arrive until 3:30 yesterday at Vic's and I had already left for the San Diego Chargers Playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts." MORE

Dave Mustaine has posted the following update on the Megadeth Forums: "Today is the first day of the 'Megadeth album 12' sessions after the Christmas and New Years break. I was at the studio yeterday night with Justis after flying home from our new Years ski trip and it was unreal how much the studio has taken on a life of its own and is a living breathing building now that is responsible for forging the new Megadeth record." Dave Mustaine (born September 13, 1961 in La Mesa, California USA) is the rhythm (/lead ?) guitarist, songwriter, and singer for the heavy metal band Megadeth. Mustaine grew up in various Southern California suburbs. He currently resides in Fallbrook, California. Mustaine was a former Metallica lead guitarist and co-songwriter in the band's early history. Following his departure from Metallica, Mustaine formed Megadeth in 1983. As one of the most commercially successful heavy metal bands of all time, Megadeth has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, including six consecutive platinum albums, with seven consecutive Grammy nominations for Best Metal Performance. In the band's 23 active years, Megadeth has had 20 official members, with Dave Mustaine remaining as the driving force, main songwriter, and sole original member. Megadeth is hailed as one of the bands among the "Big Four of Thrash," along with Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, who were responsible for creating and popularizing the genre in the 1980s.
